What is Passion? Passion is an intense desire, a strong overwhelming, sometimes all-consuming liking for someone or something, or total devotion to something. It can be said that passion is love. The etymology or history of the word Passion takes us to the root word for the Passion of Christ, referring to the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and his death. The word passion implies giving your all in a situation as Christ gave His all
The word Prevail means “to endure, accomplish, triumph or overcome, persist and have power or influence.” Therefore, prevailing prayer is prayer that has power or influence with God. And to prevail in prayer means to endure until you have prayed through to an answer. It reminds us of the acronym PUSH -Pray until something happens, Prevail, to not give up, Prevail, to seek Him until you hear His voice, Prevail, to stay on the wall of prayer.
It is a common temptation to give up reading the scriptures and prayer when life becomes challenging. The truth is that we should continue reading, continue praying. We are not to live by our feelings but to live by the commandments of our Lord who tells us to pray without ceasing.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 reminds us of God’s promise: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord. This is the key. Wholehearted seeking. Passionate pursuit. When our hearts burn with desire for God, our prayers become powerful weapons against the enemy, reminding us that our hope is not lost, for we serve a God who listens, cares, and acts on our behalf.
